If you were buying lottery tickets in the UK this weekend, then we hope you were lucky, because it was certainly a very lucky weekend for UK jackpot chasers. On Friday night the pan-European Euromillions Lottery had a single winner from the UK for its big rollover, and then on Saturday a UK Lotto rollover jackpot also had a single UK winner.
The two jackpots meant that over £40 million was paid out to UK players in jackpots alone, making it a very lucky weekend indeed.
It’s not known yet whether the £38 million Euromillions winner will go public, but they have already come forward to claim the big prize. 2012 has been an incredibly lucky year for British Euromillions winners, this being the eighth jackpot won in the country this year!
The luck continued too, into Saturday with a UK Lotto rollover jackpot worth £6.3 million. There was no midweek winner of the National Lottery jackpot, creating this weekend rollover, and just one person matched all six winning numbers on Saturday night, completing the lucky weekend and netting the winner £6.3 million!
The wins mean the jackpots are back to normal this week. Players taking part in tomorrow’s Euromillions can expect a jackpot worth €15/£11 million and midweek Lotto players will be competing for around £2.2 million.
